One of the things that really amazes me is that there are so much money to be made online from affiliate programs. Millions upon millions of commission dollars are being paid each and every year to thousands of affiliates.

You can actually go on the Internet and find an affiliate program on any niche that is available. Books, CD's, posters, work at home opportunities, Online Home Businesses, furniture, women's bags, computers, clothing, digital cameras, and much more.

Amazon.com, ClickBank.com, and CJ.com are all very famous affiliate marketing places that you can get started with and find a good and honest programs to promote. There are other places online that you can find affiliate programs to promote but sometimes you need to research a program and see if it really does pay its affiliates. Some of them don't so you need to be careful.

A good way to fail in affiliate marketing is to try to sell a product that no one cares about.

Another good way to fail using affiliate marketing is to never get your own opt in email subscribers. Don't build a list and follow up with your subscribers about the program that you are associated with. Instead of getting a list going, make sure to keep promoting your affiliate link only and don't even think about having your own website.

Find a niche that has a very high competition base and try to compete with others for sales. Do exactly what others are doing and promote your link at the same places that they are promoting (Example: Free classifieds that everyone else is using).
