You must use your common sense to protect yourself whether you are interested in meeting people on line or off line. I will discuss some safety tips you can follow when you decide to meet your online date in person. It can be difficult to judge someone's character when you have just met them.

If you have been chatting with someone whom you met online, and there is mutual interest you should not be pressured into meeting. You should meet whenever you are ready to meet.

One of the greatest things about online dating is that it gives you the ability to get to know someone while being in the comfort of your own home. You should find out the important things up front in this process you should try to determine whether or not there is a possibility for a relationship. It's very important to be honest and open with the person, it's best to take things slowly when you are starting a relationship.

When you are meeting it's important to let a close friend or family member know where you are going and with whom you are going with. It's always a good idea to meet in a public setting regardless of how well you may think you know the person or how comfortable you may feel. You should meet in a familiar place, you should know exactly how to get home from where you are meeting.

Try to avoid going to places where you are well known, going to your favorite bar / club is not a good idea on a first date. Your date may return to gather information about you from your favorite bartender or waitress.

You must trust your intuition. When you are on a date you if you feel extremely comfortable and you feel that there is good chemistry between the two of you, you should relax and go with the flow. On the other hand if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, at any time you should leave. You should listen to your inner voice.

You should not tell your date where you live. If you are both traveling you should travel independently. If your date is driving and is offering you are ride home, you should say no, because getting into a car with someone you have just met is not a good idea. However, if you have made your travel arrangements ahead of time you will have a good excuse for refusing a ride home.

If you start dating someone you've met online and you had been chatting with them for a long time before you met in person, things should flow naturally because you are compatible. If they do not, you should move on and forget about this person. For example if your date refuses to introduce you to their family and friends, and they refuse to take you where they live this is a sign that something is wrong.
