Stay Healthy On Long Haul Flights

By: Jez Rourke

Often, on long flights, people worry about the various health concerns and might have several things to worry about. You probably have some of the same concerns as well.

First of all, let's focus on yourself and your body. The biggest health concern is simply the aches and pains of sitting for a long time. If you are on a long flight, you are going to want to make sure that you are able to get up and walk a few times during the flight, if that is at all possible. If it isn't, or even if you have walked several times, you should be doing small stretching exercises in your seat. You can move all of the parts of your body several times during a flight, which will help you with being sore when you arrive, and also prevent things like blood clots or other problems from forming.

There are various other things that you can do, that will help you stay healthy on long haul flights. First of all, stay hydrated. The biggest reason that people come off of long flights feeling sick and not being healthy is that they don't drink enough water and are susceptible to changes in the atmosphere because their body is not hydrated. Drink plenty of water. Avoid alcohol, as this is only going to worsen your bodies defenses. The air is re circulated on airplanes, so you should take some vitamins before you go, and have plenty of defenses, like vitamin c pills, ready for you when you land. These preventative measures can help you avoid getting sick if someone on your flight happened to be ill.

The biggest thing that you can do on your flight to stay healthy is to relax. Put on some music, try to allow your body to rest as much as possible, and don't worry about too many things at once. Often flying can exhaust and stress people much more than it should, which will lead to health concerns. Try to take your time and relax.

You can bring along several things to keep you healthy on a long flight. First thing to do is to fill an empty bottle full of clean fresh water just before you board the flight. Also, you can bring a pillow, ear plugs and an eye mask, which will help you relax during the flight. Things like vitamin C pills or other pick-me-ups will also help you arrive at your destination feeling healthy and happy.
