The Good Luck Goddess Prefers People Who...

I read the "The Richest Man in Bablyon" years ago. The "Babylonian parables" of wealth are shared. You could easily read the short book in an hour. For me there was one principle that stood out above all the others. Look at the bottom of page 56 and you'll read:

"Men of action are favored by the Goddess of Good Luck."

Surely this Goddess favors women of action too. I'm not sexist. It's not the God of Good Luck anyway. It's the Goddess of Good Luck and those are the words in the book.

You see all the whiners of the world sit on their butts and bitch, moan, and complain about how "lucky" successful people are. And since they'll never get off their butts and do something to change their situation, they'll never realize what a bunch of baloney that is.

Like the old adage says, luck is when preparation meet opportunity. And there is such abundant opportunity in the world, the only excuses for not taking advantage are ignorance and laziness. Ignorance results in the inability to notice the abundant opportunities available. It's unlikely that people who lack the requisite preparedness will ever meet opportunity. Which is to say they'll never get "lucky."

All they really need to do is model successful people and they could achieve the same results. They could simply ask a successful person they know or they could read books at the local library about the lives of successful people and notice the commonalities. Both of these methods are free.

Half of success is just showing up in the words of Woody Allen and I believe him to be correct. Before he was Indiana Jones or Han Solo, Harrison Ford was a carpenter with a goal of becoming an actor. His success was not total "luck." He just showed up at places where actors found work and it shouldn't be a surprise that he found work as an extra just because they needed a warm body. That led to a small role in American Graffiti and a short time later George Lucas tapped him to play Han Solo in the blockbuster Star Wars. It's not luck. He took action and the Goddess of Good Luck favors those who take action.
