Many new eBayers are afraid of the fact that they must find a market niche. They hear all the hype about that niche being the key to their future riches. They hear that if they fail in their search then they will be doomed to failure. They hear that if they are ever going to succeed they must find just the right niche and just the right product, all at just the right time.

Let’s start by taking the mystery out of identifying a lucrative niche. Let’s start by removing the fear that if you fail at this one task you are doomed to eBay failure. Let’s start by acknowledging that this is an important step down the road to success. Yet it is a road that many, many successful sellers have taken before. Almost anyone who is willing to invest the time and energy to really conduct thorough research will be able to locate the right market niche and the right product to make money on eBay.

Just like so many other challenges that new businesses face, identifying a market niche is very important if you hope to make money on eBay. But let’s change from just looking for a market niche that will result in success to finding the right niche for you. Let’s focus our efforts on identifying the right niche – and that niche needs to be able to provide dependable sales now and into the future.

Sounds good – right? But how do you accomplish this?

Start by identifying your personal interests. Look at areas where you have knowledge. Identify areas that you really enjoy. This may include hobbies, special interests, special training that you have had, and even the work that you are currently doing. Select something that you really enjoy. That’s the first step to make money on eBay. Follow through and conduct some test selling once you think you have identified your niche and your product. Testing will reveal exactly what the demand will be and the prices that you can expect to obtain. Move forward once you verify that you have a viable product and start to a make money on eBay.

Next investigate the market for that particular niche. The eBay site has some great research tools to get you started. Next move over to the online tools that are available. Examine how many searches there are for specific niche keywords. Look at products that are selling within that niche and how well they sell. Start by identifying your personal interests.
