  • The Beatles - The music of The Beatles The Beatles had a relatively short career by the standards of many of the bands of the era, many of which survive today. But in their decade of prominence their music followed an identifiable path that took in mainstream pop, psychedelia and some quite challenging arrangements. Analyzing sheet music of the Beatles reveals that even their early music, a blend of skiffle and rock ’n’ roll, was far removed from the three-chord compositions of many of their contemporaries. Once notable feature of Beatles music is the ease with which it translates to different styles. Much of it retains its distinct feel regardless of whether it is being strummed on a guitar, played on a piano, automated on a sequencer or being performed by a complete orchestra.
  • With the Beatles Album Review - With The Beatles may be the least known and least talked about of all Beatles albums (if it's not Beatles For Sale.) It was their second album released, after Please Please Me, so it doesn't have the distinction of being their first album. It also doesn't have the distinction of being their first truly formed great album (which was their 3rd album A Hard Day's Night.) But that's not to say it's not a good album, it does contain some great Beatles classic. It was ranked #420 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the greatest 500 albums of all time released in 2003.
  • The Beatles Double Album Turns 40 - The Beatles had released Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band & Magical Mystery Tour in 1967. Both had outlandish covers and a focus on psychedelic music. In 1968 The Beatles went the opposite direction with a plain white cover and a focus on variety in musical styles. While it's not as flawless as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or Revolver (which I'd probably rank #2 and #3 among Beatles albums) I think it's incredible variety makes it the most interesting listen over the long term. I've been listening to The White Album frequently since I first discovered it back in 1996. And even now, 12 years later, I still discover new things about it.
  • A Review Of Revolver By The Beatles - 1966's Revolver is seen by many Beatles fans as their very best album. As an example of it's extreme popularity is it's current 4.47 rating on the Rate Your Music website which is the highest of any Beatles album.
  • The Beatles Biography And Top 10 Songs - Being from Manchester which is quite close to Liverpool there is some local rivalry (especially between Manchester United F.C. and Liverpool F.C.) between the two towns and as such I generally support the Manchester bands first, but I think the whole world likes The Beatles even if they won't admit it. The Beatles are the most successful of any bands, ever. I first started listening to The Beatles on the radio and when I was 8 I got A Hard Days Night as a birthday present (by request).
  • A Hard Day's Night: The Album - Many people think of The Beatles classic film when they hear "A Hard Day's Night" but the soundtrack album by the same name was a huge step forward for the band's songwriting.
  • The Beatles Original 13 Studio Albums - The Beatles released 13 official studio albums from 1963 to 1970. What follows is a short "review" of each of these 13 albums. In my view as a true Beatles fanatic every single on of these albums should be a part of your collection eventually. But there are definitely some albums that are more essential than others.
  • A Hard Day's Night by the Beatles - A Hard Day’s Night was The Beatles 3rd album. It was released in 1964 at the height of Beatle-mania and of course it was the soundtrack to the movie by the same name. It was the #1 album in the UK for 21 weeks. The US version was #1 in the US for 14 weeks. It was The Beatles first truly great album and it was their first album to feature all original songs. In fact their first two albums only contained 8 original songs each (with 6 covers.) A Hard Day’s Night also has the distinction of being the only Beatles album to contain nothing but Lennon/McCartney songs.
  • Magical Mystery Tour Album Review - The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour album is not as well known as Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Revolver, Rubber Soul, The White Album, Abbey Road, Let It Be, A Hard Day's Night, or Help! but in some ways it's among their greatest albums. Although it may be hard to argue it's their best album, it is reasonable to argue that it is their most psychedelic album and if you are great fan of psychedelic music like I am, that means a lot.

  • Get to know more about The Beatles, the most famous music band in the world - The Beatles is the music band that has great reputation as well as very long and interesting history.
  • Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles 1967 album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is perhaps the most legendary album in rock music history. So much has been said about it that it is considered by quite a few music critics to be overrated. While I can understand that view, I do not think it is overrated.
  • 10 Lorne Michaels' Quotes to Celebrate the Birthday of the Creator of Saturday Night Live - If you're a Saturday Night Live fan then this is the time of year for some fun and fabulous Lorne Michaels' quotes. The creator of this world-famous television show will be celebrating his sixty-fourth birthday this year. Let's kick off the celebration by reflecting on a few of his more famous quotes. 1. "God knows there has been a lot we could have done in the last six weeks.
  • The Beatles Album Abbey Road - Abbey Road was the final album The Beatles recorded although it was actually released prior to Let It Be. The album was recorded and released in 1969. Abbey Road, like all of the rest of The Beatles studio albums, was a huge commercial success. It reached #1 on the charts in the UK and in the US. It's sold over 12 million copies in the United States. Abbey Road has also been critically acclaimed. For example it was ranked #14 on Rolling Stone magazine's top 500 albums of all time. And it's currently ranked as the 2nd best album of all time by the users of the Rate Your Music website. Track By Track: #1 "Come Together" This is one of the most well known songs on the album.
  • The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper Album Steals The Show - As we continue our discussion with Gary Freiberg (www.RockArtPictureShow.com and www.VinylRecordDay.org), let’s pick up where we left off and continue detailing the poll that was conducted at the Vinyl Record Day web site and specifically, the album that was voted to be the number one album cover of all time, the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper” album. The album was groundbreaking because up until then album covers were pretty standard, a picture of the artist (usually a head shot) or group or a specific setting, for example, maybe a jukebox surrounded by teens. This was a very careful and easy way of doing things. But, the Beatles added new elements to album cover art, as Gary details: “The Beatles did something with the Sgt.
  • The Best Albums Of The Beatles - The Beatles were only actively recording for about 8 years. Their first recording session at Abbey Road was on June 6, 1962 and the final Beatles recordings were made on January 3, 1970. Although they were really only an active band for rather short period of time, they recorded many of the greatest albums in rock history. In fact they recorded so many great albums that I will have to shave off some really good ones to keep this list at a mere seven greatest albums. #1 The White Album The Beatles self titled double album quickly got the nickname "The White Album" upon it's release in 1968 and the name has stuck even 40 years later.
  • A May-December Affair? What To Do If You're The Woman And Older? - May-December affairs are no big deal. That's expected. But what happens when the gent is years younger than the lady? This kind of May-December affair once taboo remains titillating, especially if those involved are famous. What if you're the woman and the older partner? How will you cope?
  • Why Las Vegas Is The Most Exciting City In The World - The city of Las Vegas, Nevada is one of the hottest tourist destinations in the world and it has held that distinction for many years.
  • Vinyl Record Collecting Alive And Well - According to a recent report from eBay, the online auction giant, they sell more than three million vinyl records each year. It is also reported that eBay users buy and sell six vinyl records every minute (or an average of one every ten seconds). It seems the vinyl record, just a few years ago an afterthought as an audio format, is alive and well. So what is all the fuss about? First and foremost, if you ask any record collector, it is the sound quality they love the most about vinyl. The music isn’t compressed into ones and zeros or “binary sound.” Then of course, there is the element of “collectibility,” people may buy vinyl as an investment, in hope that, over time, the records will appreciate in value.
  • Historic And Controversial Album Covers-part One - When CD’s were first introduced in the early 80's, they were the “next best thing” in the music world. Certainly an upgrade from cassette tapes, CD’s conveniently packed the music and artwork into a neat, small package. But one of the major flaws is the lack of cover art you get with a CD, especially when you compare it to the vibrant, lifelike album cover art you get with vinyl records. In this three part series about album cover art, we will explore some of the most legendary album covers of all time, look at some of the most controversial album covers as well as gauge the impact that major retailers have on cover art.
  • Getting Married Without A Hitch In Las Vegas - As the Beatles said, “All you need is love, love, Love is all you need” Immortalizing the famous words of this song, love is really all you need to get married in Las Vegas. It’s no surprise then, that Las Vegas is considered the wedding capital of the world, with over 122,000 marriage licenses being issued every year! They call it “Getting married without a hitch- Las Vegas style”. Getting married is an experience in itself, but getting married in Las Vegas, takes the whole experience into another dimension. The official government agency that issues marriage licenses in Las Vegas, the Clark County Marriage License Bureau, is open everyday, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to midnight. How’s that for service! It’s no wonder they manage to issue so many licenses a year.
  • Vinyl Art - A New Canvas - Album cover art has a fascinating and long history. From the days of Alex Steinweiss to pop artists like Andy Warhol and Roger Dean, album cover art has evolved; with some highly praised covers (i.e. the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper LP) to the controversial, including Jimi Hendrix’s “Electric Ladyland” that featured nude women. But using old, generally unplayable vinyl records (LP’s) as a canvas, artist Daniel Edlen is creating one-of-a-kind ‘Vinyl Art’ masterpieces, adding a new dimension to the art of vinyl albums.
  • Classic albums down the decades - the 1960s - The swinging sixties arrived in a world still waking up from post war drudgery. There were no mobile phones or internet and few opportunities for travel. The rich flew no further than Spain for a holiday. The most popular 'gadgets' were radiograms and twin tub washing machines. Black and white TV was starting to catch on.
  • Liverpool: Things To See And Do When You Visit Liverpool - Located on the river Mersey, Liverpool is England's third largest city – only Birmingham and London are bigger. There is plenty to do when you visit Liverpool – it's an internationally renowned culture centre and won the title of European Capital of Culture during 2008. Of course, it was also the home of The Beatles. Theatre-goers are spoilt for choice with six main theatres to choose from, two of which boast their own theatre companies. So there are always plenty of plays to see if you want a relaxing and cultural evening out. Every other year during the autumn, the Liverpool Biennial takes place and covers all sorts of arts.
  • Travel To Liverpool: Get Around In A Car Hire - Liverpool just passed its 800th year as a designated city, and is referred to as the Capital of European culture. The best way to see this old town is in your own Car Hire UK. The rising ridges of sandstone hills and the River Mersey are geographical landmarks of the city that also contribute to the picturesque skyline and beautiful sites. Historically, Liverpool has been the site of struggles and anti-Semitism.
  • Are We as a Society Falling Out of Love? - All of the hippies from the mid sixties popped in their Beatles albums and sang along with John Lennon when he optimistically sang Love Is All You Need. This age of free love and spiritual liberty has been wiped out by the high fashion seventies and the wild eighties. Those flower children are now in the positions that they once furiously fought against. Many of them are CEO’s, hotshot lawyers, and slick politicians. Many of those former John Lennon followers who believed that all you need is love ended up divorced. What has happened to the generation that fought to stop a war with peace and civil disobedience? In generations of the past music revolved around romance and love.
  • Achieve Guitar Brilliance - A great deal of people realize sooner or later that music is simply something great. It’s not competitive, it’s not stressful – it’s a pure joy and it help you relax and find yourself in times of trouble, as the Beatles say.
  • The Olivia Tremor Control: Psychedelic Music - I've long been a huge fan of psychedelic rock music. The type of music that lets your imagination run wild. The type of music that has a bit more depth to it. Music that isn't just verse, chorus, verse, chorus but that breaks free into exploratory song structures and new musical ideas. I'm not sure there is a band that more fully reaches for the ideal of truly psychedelic music than The Olivia Tremor Control. The Olivia Tremor Control only released two albums.
  • 60th Anniversary Celebrations For The Queen And Duke - Britain's Queen Elizabeth came to the British throne when she was only 25, and at her side has been Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who married the Queen in 1947. In the modern world of celebrities, celebrity relationships, marriages and highly publicised breakdowns - including that of her son Prince Charles and Princess Diana - it is easy to forget that the Queen has acted with grace and seldom complains of press coverage when it is unfavourable - unless it is simply untruthful, when the British Press Complaints body intervenes.
  • Alternatives to Making Do - Most people remember The Beatles. In the 1960s they were the most famous pop group in the world, and were responsible for writing some of the most memorable songs of that era. People are still humming their tunes today. So where did the songs come from? In their later years, the band used to meet up in a recording studio and mess around for hours, on guitars and keyboards, eventually coming up with something they were happy with. There is a memorable piece of film from the time that shows them working on a title song for their self-made film, 'Magical Mystery Tour'. It was at a stage when most of the filming had already been done. The band had a title for the film, all they needed was a song to go with it.
  • Some Vintage Posters For Auction - Vintage posters are always available at art auctions. I have found all kinds of vintage poster art auctions lately. I really liked a vintage poster I found that was from the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam. The poster is rare because it is one of the only 500 of the 10,000 printed that is in French. Another vintage poster I found in an art auction was from 1917. It depicts French woman in war time performing various tasks. The poster celebrates the contribution of French women in the workforce. During war time, French women made up forty percent of the workforce.
  • Popular Music Used In Commercials - Stop The Insanity-Hire Someone To Write A Jingle! Many years ago, in a far away place and time, companies wishing to promote their wares on television would hire songwriters to develop advertising jingles to promote whatever they were selling. But recently, in my mind, some companies have crossed the proverbial line, so to speak, by using classic Beatles’ music to pitch their products. Am I the only one who is absolutely appalled by the superstore Target’s use of the great Beatles’ hit entitled “Hello Goodbye” (although in the commercial they have changed it to “Hello Good Buy,” how clever). Couldn’t the corporate big wigs just hire Barry Manilow (who wrote the classic McDonalds’ jingle: “You deserve a break today”) to write a sappy jingle?
  • Putting A Value On Vinyl Records - Part Two - In part one we discussed the most important element of vinyl record appraising, the condition of the record and LP jacket or sleeve and the methods used in grading a vinyl record. In this section we will explore other elements that factor into the value of a record. Scarcity Many, many millions of vinyl records are in circulation, with almost every household in the US, either having some vinyl records at one time or another. We even had a vinyl record ‘boon’ from around 1955-1980.
  • Radiohead Album Overview - Radiohead has recorded seven albums in their career so far.
  • Preserve And Display Your Album Cover Art - In this introduction to a four part series about album cover art we will explore several elements of this creative and personal art form with Vinyl Record Day Founder and album frame innovator Gary Freiberg. (www.RockArtPictureShow.com & www.VinylRecordDay.org) We’ll look at historic and controversial album covers, the differences in album cover framing, learn about a growing organization called Vinyl Record Day and see what’s in the future for album cover art. But first, let’s introduce Gary, vinyl preservationist and businessman. Gary Freiberg is a vinyl enthusiast, historian and preservationist.
  • The Mirage Has Undergone A Major Transformation Bringing The Excitement And Luxury Of Las Vegas To The Center Strip - When Steve Wynn opened The Mirage in 1989 no one could have foreseen that he was actually paving the way for what the Las Vegas Strip has become today. Huge impressive resorts with thousands of rooms and every imaginable amenity anyone could need (or desire). At the time it was the largest and most expensive resort ever built anywhere in the world. People began flocking to Las Vegas just to see what Steve Wynn had created. Today The Mirage may no longer be the largest, but a two-year, multi-million dollar renovation has given new life to The Mirage and made it one of the most exciting resorts on the Strip. If you haven't visited The Mirage in the last few years or have never visited you may think you have stepped into a brand new resort.
  • Album Cover Art History - Forty Years That Changed Society - In part two of our four-part discussion with Vinyl Record Day Founder and vinyl businessman Gary Freiberg ( http://www.RockArtPictureShow.com & http://www.VinylRecordDay.org ), we focus our attention on the history of album cover art. CDs and computer files fail to give an artist or group a proper canvas in which to display their visual art, to help create an image of who the group is. After all, not everyone buys a record strictly for the music.
  • Album Cover Art-Part Two - Album cover art software allows you to explore this pop phenomenon In the last article, we discussed some of the elements of album cover art and I would like to continue the discussion with some more details and an album cover finder that is a must for any fan of album cover art. As I stated previously, many famous artists have been commissioned to design and produce album covers. For example, the Rolling Stones and pop artist Andy Warhol are famous for the cover art on the Stones’ album “Sticky Fingers.
  • Help With Tax Debt - Anyone who knows they need help with tax debt should seek assistance immediately. Too many people try to seek tax relief by personally negotiating with the IRS, and the results are disastrous. The IRS knows most taxpayers don't have a good understanding of their taxpayer rights and will take full advantage of the situation. Asking For Help Most people are not used to asking for help. Instead, people do their own bookkeeping and then their own taxes.
  • Where To Stay In Cardiff, Capital Of Wales - Although there is plenty of accommodation to select from when it comes to where to stay in Cardiff. It is important to remember that this is the capital city of Wales and so what is available can very quickly get booked up. Therefore, it is best if you can actually try to book your accommodation for your stay in this city as early as you possibly can.
  • Alternatives to story telling - There aren't any! There, I've spoiled it for you, told you the ending before I even set the scene and outlined the case. Sorry, that's not very good practice, but it proves my point.
  • Home Buyers - Low-Ball Deal - In these strange economic times, for home buyers - a person looking to purchase a home could not find a better time to be getting the best deals available within the housing market. With home buyers looking for steals and sellers looking for an out and banks selling off homes at cut-rate prices, the opportunities could not be better, favoring the home buyers. The old school conventional wisdom within the housing industry just does not hold water today and can actually get in your way of getting your best low-ball deal on a house you want to buy.
  • A Holiday In Liverpool Filled With Fun - If you are looking for a holiday to Liverpool for fun and excitement, you will want to stop at Knowsley Safari Park. There is over five miles of dirt road to travel and see so many animals in the wild.
  • History of 60s Music - The decade of the 1960's presented social and political changes that had never been seen before. In addition to this, 60s music changed the direction of popular music and Americana as a whole.
  • The Kew Gardens and More Things To Do In London - One of the most refreshing things to do in London this summer is to visit the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew. The Kew Gardens, as it is fondly called, offers you the opportunity to cope with the summer heat by cooling off in this vast green environment. The Kew Gardens is primarily a botanical research center and a training ground for professional gardeners. There are tens of thousands of different collection of orchids, ferns, cacti, mountain plants, tropical lilies and other plants.
  • The Various Advantages Of Online Dating Websites - Contrary to what people in general know now, online dating was not born out of technological advancements but of something more primal in human nature - the need to have and be with someone.
  • Never give up! - Have you ever wondered why some people are successful, while others experience failure? It might surprise you that every successful person has a long list of failures and rejections. J.K. Rowlings was rejected by 12 publishers before Harry Potter was published. Moby Dick took years to be accepted. The Beatles were initially rejected by Decca Records, before they went on to fame. What can we learn from these examples? It could be said that failure and rejection are the forerunners of success. Before we succeed, we will fail many times. In my book, "Secrets from the Sofa," I emphasize that it is crucial that you perceive of yourself as a capable person.
  • Car Hire Heathrow Airport - When traveling to London, many choose to fly. This often lands them at London’s renowned Heathrow Airport. The accommodating landing base is a fabulous way to begin a holiday in London. The holiday spent in London will be best spent by hiring a car, and one can Car Hire Heathrow directly. Yet to avoid standing on line and waiting for whatever rental agency is staffed, then accepting whatever type of vehicle is left over from all the reserved, travelers will be best served by handling arrangements for a car hire online prior to landing at the airport. Once the Car Hire Heathrow Airport has been reserved, it will be a good idea to plan the routes to travel.
  • The Carpenters Biography And Top 10 Songs - This is another band I have to thank my sis P for getting me into. When we were little kids my sister used to watch the Karen Carpenter Story over and over when we were on our 6 weeks holiday from school, and I used to pretend I didn't like it for a while because it was "girly" but eventually I gave in and then we used to sing all the songs together when they came on.
  • Beginners in Start of Guitar - Some people are fortunate enough to have certain events take place in their life that leave that everlasting mark. For some, it's about love; for others, it's about their career. For me, it was about the guitar. I was 11 the first time I really saw anyone play the guitar up close and personal. Up until then, the playing of musical instruments held little appeal next to pickup football and baseball games with my friends in my little suburban town. But on this particular day, one of my friends showed me how adept he had become at playing a tune that I knew very well: "Stairway to Heaven". OK, so it's the typical cliched beginning, but I was dumbfounded.
  • Have Rate Tarts Missed The Boat? - Just as the 1960s are now looked back on as the glory days of free love, so will the first few years of this decade be looked at as the glory days of free credit. There was a time not so long ago when it was virtually impossible not to get into huge but interest free debt, and anyone without ten credit cards was looked upon as some sort of dangerous retrograde. Rates tarts were the new Beatles groupies, flitting between cards like young lovers, enjoying the zero per cent introductory rate and then departing for pastures new.
