  • How Many Knee Braces Does It Take To Power Your Cell Phone? - Whilst the use of knee braces have long been used to either support or prevent damage to the ligaments of American Pro footballers, recent scientific developments have highlighted a much more intriguing use: the knee brace harnessing the kinetic energy of the knee movement and storing it. Boffins from the University of Pittsburgh and the Simon Fraser University in Canada have found a way to harness 30 minutes cell phone time from 1 minute's walking. Keep that up and The Pittsburgh Steelers could power their own floodlights during matches! It has to be said that such a notion is actually along way off, but so far the bionic knee brace is causing quite a stir. It appears as a conventional example of a supportive knee brace; it weighs 3.5 pounds (that's 1.6 kilos for the more metrically minded).

  • 1970s Classic Television On DVD Bring Variety Stars Like Sonny And Cher Back To Fans - Imagine a family, all sitting around the TV, possibly the only TV in the house. Dad is holding the remote control, which everyone refers to as “the clicker.” The remote has only two functions. One of the functions turns the TV off and on. The other changes the channels, all 7 or 8 of them, with a click of a button. Now try to imagine what that family is watching. Are you imagining them watching one of the classic TV shows from the 1970’s? In the 1970s most families had one, maybe two televisions in the house, and the second television was usually stashed away in mom and dad’s room where they could watch the classic shows that the kids couldn’t watch yet like Maude or Soap.
  • Maternity Clothing - What Every Woman Needs To Know About Maternity Clothes - Let's face it: maternity clothing is ugly and expensive. Since most women don't need to wear maternity clothes until the second trimester, at most you'll only be getting six months of use out of those ugly $200 overalls to cover your ever expanding stomach. I couldn't bring myself to spend thousands of dollars on a new wardrobe when I already felt so ugly, so I resorted to making my own for as long as possible.
  • Hip Hip Hooray For Bilateral Hip Replacement - Do you know what bilateral means? I always just assumed that it was a different type of lens for your bifocals. But also, I didn't care to know. Put it this way, I was more than willing to go to the grave without ever having uttered, let alone discuss the implications of the word bilateral. For the two people out there who can relate to this ignorance? Bilateral means both sides. In the world of hip replacements, otherwise known as THRs, bilateral means you've had two new hips installed. Often, once one hip deteriorates, the other soon follows. It makes sense.

  • Builders Knee Braces Are Not What You Think! - Of course if you mention the word "knee brace" to an architect that brings up whole different kettle of fish: and it has nothing to do with builders knee. Of course if one imagines the standard type of prophylactic knee brace or indeed the functional knee brace in conjunction with the idea of a house, perhaps one might produce an image in one's mind of some fantastical construction: somewhat along the lines of the Russian folk tale of the witch Baba Yaga. Here the wicked old dame lived in a house that bounded along on the giant chicken legs.

  • Australia, The Land Of Opportunity For Engineers - Australia isn’t a country you would typically associate with leading edge engineering skills and technical innovation. Australia, however, is full of surprises and in fact boasts many firsts. These include the mechanical refrigerator, the black-box-flight recorder, the bionic ear (cochlear implant), the pace maker, the electric drill, and the combine harvester. In fact Australia’s output of inventive genius is far beyond what you would expect - given that the population size barely exceeds 20 million people (source: Australian Bureau of Statistics). The demand for engineers As a place to work, Australia must be amongst the most exciting for an engineer – no matter the discipline. The booming economy has a strong technology focus, and vast amounts are invested in research and development. However, there is a shortage of engineers which limits what firms are able to do.
  • All You Need Is Glove - Teachers field all sorts of questions during a golf lesson. Not all of them are about the golf swing. In fact, many are not. During a recent lesson a student asked about golf gloves. A serious golfer, she wanted to know if she had to wear one and why. It was a good question. It struck a chord with me. Since golf teachers don't always cover gloves in golf instruction sessions or written golf tips, I thought 1′d cover them in a longer article. Golfers don't have to wear gloves. There's nothing in golf's rules that say they must. In fact, many players with low golf handicaps, including some PGA professionals, play without one. But for those of you who don't have a low golf handicap or are not a professional player, I recommend wearing one.

Even those who give in to their cravings and indulge agree that it is cool to be healthy.
  • Galactic Empire, a Space-age Third Reich - Born in May of 1944, in Modesto, California, George Lucas lived a world away from the horrors of Fascist Germany. Yet its imprint is more than evident in Lucas’ life’s work and creative brainchild, the Star Wars Saga. Admitting that the Galactic Empire was based on Germany’s Third Reich, Lucas drew from history the characters and imagery needed to paint his evil regime. While some parallels are obvious—such as the robotic white soldiers Lucas named “storm troopers,” the same name Hitler gave his personal bodyguards during World War II, other comparisons require a little digging. These comparisons make for a fascinating study.

  • Wrestling Complain "Big Yap" - Welcome to my big yap where I complain and you read. Today I will talk about the wwe and the rest of its conglomerate and try to figure out why it went from being a growing organization to flopping on its face. Back in the 90's it was a wow hey look at that. WWF was making hundreds of millions, wrestlers were living off of cocaine and steroids and fun was had by all. The Attitude Era was a time of great prosperity for the WWF, but it was also a time when competition flourished in the professional wrestling industry. WCW and ECW had both risen to national prominence during that time, and at one point WWF, WCW, and ECW all had national television deals.
