  • The Power of the Ripple Effect - How one life, one choice can change the world There isn't a person alive who would not like to think that their life has made a difference in the life of someone else. We hope to positively impact our friends and families and maybe even our neighbors and co-workers. The truth is that many of us will never know the full extent to which even our smallest of actions may have a lasting impression. July 4th, 2008, I was on the bank of the Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts along with over 500,000 other people celebrating this country's birthday. This was also the 35th birthday of the Boston Pop's Fireworks Spectacular, and performing live at the event were the Boston Pops and Rascal Flatts. As I sat there and listened to music piped through speakers along the Charles, I couldn't help but wonder.
  • The 30-Day Challenge to A More Positive Perspective - I had the privilege of attending a graduation party for a friend of ours that just completed her master's course after the wonderful age of 40. Exact age will be withheld because she doesn't look or act her age. As I mingled with people mostly of higher educational backgrounds, I realized how cynical the world we live in truly is. I also discovered how little faith we have in others and ourselves. This wasn't anything directed at any single person or this exact situation just an overall feeling. I realized I was able to remain grateful in spite of the negativities in the world, but I had to make a conscious effort.
  • Listen to Hear - Hear the message of the speaker There is a dramatic difference between listening and hearing. Hearing is the sense by which sound is perceived. When we truly listen, we are understanding the message behind the words. The other significant point about listening is that often people to not listen to understand, they listen to respond. Even though someone is seemingly hearing you, they may actually be hearing only enough to form their own response. Therefore, somewhere in the middle of the conversation they are no longer listening to understand.
  • Simple Acts of Gratitude - There are many people involved in our lives that have a big impact on helping us raise our children. Saying "thank you" just isn't enough. We are all so busy and need to work together. There just isn't anything that can be found in a store to show how truly grateful we are. When others help out how can we let them know what they did mattered? How do we show our gratitude? Often times we turn to what can I buy or what should I buy as a thank you. Well, over the last 10 years of living in a community over 3000 miles from my family I have witnessed some incredible gestures that were very inexpensive to purchase yet priceless to my daughter and me.
  • Festive and Effective Holiday Marketing Ideas - In addition to being the "Season of Sweets," the period of time between Halloween and New Year's Day presents a wonderful opportunity for your company to thank your customers. It also is a time that you can drive new business to you.
